32 Weeks

(Sign courtesy of my kiddo Ella)

These two ladies are pretty excited to be aunts!  They're already giving Baby Koch kisses!

How far along? 32 Weeks! Baby K is supposed to be gaining 1/2 pound per week from now on!

Total weight gain/loss: 23 pounds. Gained the two pounds I lost last week back.  I attribute it to the massive amount of turtle brownies I ate, cheesy potatoes, and ham balls! (Thank you Momma Jones for setting me up with a week's worth of leftovers!  If she lived in Champaign, I guarantee I would have gained 50 pounds by this point.  Her food is delicious!)

Maternity clothes? Just the normal stuff but I did decide to buy a dress for my shower this past weekend that was a size bigger than I normally wear.  I put it on and Mom kindly said to me, "Honey, I think this might be the last time you wear that dress."  I explained that I just got it and she said, "Well maybe you should have gotten a bigger one."  UGH!  Talk about a downer.  Maybe I need to reconsider my stance on getting maternity clothes now that it's getting colder out and I can't get away with wearing dresses and sweatpants.

Stretch marks? Nope.  But my husband pointed out (yet again) that my skin is stretching and you can see all the wonderful veins in my body because I'm just that pale.  Why does everyone have to point ridiculous things out to me?  I get it.  I'm pale.  But that's probably never going to change.  (I thought I could at one point in my life, age 14, but that ended up in "Jackie's tanning bed adventure" story which makes for a cautionary tale to all young pale girls out there)  But overall, no stretch marks.

Sleep: Sleeping better.  No weird cow dreams this week.  I think I had to take more nighttime bathroom breaks this past week than I ever had.  I am not a fan of this shrinking bladder thing.  Ugh!

Best moment this week: Getting to see my mommy and cook with her, attending the amazing Champaign shower that my good friend threw for me (and getting to see all the wonderful people that came), and spending time with Dan's brothers, cousin, and sister-in-law.  Dan and I had a full house this past weekend but I love being around people so it was fun for me.  (Little man was hurting mommy which did cause me to not have as much fun as I wanted to but I still had a good time)  Momma Jones came down just to help make food for the Champaign shower which ended up in lots of leftovers for me!  I finally got to eat the ham balls I've been dying for!  If you don't know what a ham ball is, then you haven't lived...and I'm sorry.

Baby Koch's Champaign shower was absolutely wonderful!  My good friend, Stef, threw it for us and did an amazing job!  We had it in a park and it was beautifully sunny!  I felt so loved!  Baby K and I were surrounded by great friends and family who were all pretty excited to meet my little man.  He continued to get some major swag and the cutest outfits ever!  We feel so blessed that so many people are loving on our little man and are helping us prepare for him.  (He even got his first chef's hat and apron for helping mommy in the kitchen or daddy with the grill.  Way too cute!)  I'm just overwhelmed with everyone's generosity and love.  So a big thank you to all the amazing ladies that made the shower possible and who came to celebrate with us.  We love you!

The lovely ladies that braved the wind to come and celebrate Baby Koch!

Stef and Kara, the wonderful hard workers behind Baby Koch's shower.  I've known these two ladies forever and even got to call them my roommates my Senior year of college. (please ignore the ridiculous leggings I'm wearing.  It was a little chilly out so I threw them on thinking no one would see them...I was apparently wrong)

No shower is complete without a diaper cake.  Nicely done Stef!

So I decided to wear one of the two chef hats made for Baby Koch by Amanda.  I was pretty excited to see how adorable his first apron was.  One side is for grilling with daddy and the other side is for cooking with mommy.

After the shower, I came home to find my home packed with Kochs!  I love me my Kochs.  Dan's brothers, cousin, and sister-in-law all came to our little place to hang out for the weekend.  They were all in tailgating mode because the Illini game was a night game this week.  So I had to quickly switch from cute shower attire to tailgate attire because it was about time to start tailgating and I was enlisted as the very important DD for the day (remember kids, always designate a driver.  It's the safest thing you can do before your evening of fun.  I made the obvious choice).  From there, we tailgated our hearts out.  We even ate some of the most amazing ribs we've ever tasted (They came from Greg's "smoker"...aka old file cabinet he turned into a smoker...I kid you not)!  We decided not to go to the game.  Good thing too.  Illini lost pretty bad.  Sad!  I was exhausted by the end of the night.  Little Baby K made sure I knew that I might have pushed myself a little too much that day by doing some damage on my ribs and sides.  Not cool son.

Overall, a wonderful and blessed weekend filled with lots of my favorite people, good food, and good memories.

Miss Anything? I miss being able to sleep on my back.  I dislike the stupid rule about not being able to.  Ugh!  I also miss beer.  Tailgating season just isn't the same without it but I'm surviving.  Also, for the record, even though it is not summer anymore, I still would like a margarita.  There I said it.

Movement: Wham!  Pow!  Kick!  Kick some more!  Punch!  Jab!  Ka Pow!  Now do a circle!  Now kick mommy's insides!  I get it son, you like to move.  Dan gets so amused when he sees our little man move my entire stomach.  I think it's passed the cute stage and now on to the "Owww!  You're hurting mommy" stage.  Little Baby K is doing his best to show us how big and strong he's getting or maybe he just wants out.  Maybe it's both.  Well son, you have 50 days left until we'll allow you out so until then, maybe consider taking it easy on mommy's sides and ribs.  Please and thank you.

Food cravings: HAM BALLS!  CHEESY POTATOES!  Turtle Brownies! Auntie Annie's cinnamon-sugar pretzel sticks.  Peanut Butter everything.  Milk (duh!).  Mission to gain weight was a success this week due to my cravings.  I did a good job putting peanut butter on whatever I could (good decision Jackie) and continue to chow down on Momma Jones's leftover ham balls and cheesy potatoes.  I also might have eaten at least 7 turtle brownies at Baby K's Champaign shower (not that I was counting or anything).  It's hard not to chow down when people keep putting delicious food in front of you.  I did my best.

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Just the jabs to my sides after our long Saturday. Baby K said, "Mom!  That's enough.  Go to bed!  If you don't, I will make sure you're hurting so you have to go to bed."  He's one demanding bugger.

Have you started to show yet:  Yepp!  Still trying to get bigger and round out.

Gender: Handsome little Koch Boy!

Labor Signs: No

Symptoms: A little tingling in my left leg similar to what I felt in my first trimester when little man was situated on my nerves which caused me to limp for 4 months.  (I was hott mess for the first 20+ weeks of pregnancy if you haven't gotten that from my blog yet).  I swear I can feel my uterus stretching, or maybe that's just little man  trying to make more room by camping out on my sides.  Lower back pain is the most severe/annoying of all my pains.  I had heartburn everyday.  Tums are beginning to be my best friends.  I have other non-glamorous pregnant symptoms but I feel like you don't want to know those.  I need to write a book on all the un-glamorous things they don't tell you will happen to you during pregnancy.

Belly Button in or out? In. It did crack me up though, two of my kiddos were comparing belly buttons to see whose was the most "in" so I showed them mine and they were blown away on how far in mine went.  This led to a 30 minute discussion on the purpose of belly buttons, why some people's belly buttons look different, and whether or not we could trade belly buttons.

Here's Aidan showing me his belly button.  He got the award for the "flattest" belly button.  It's neither in nor out. Yeah...I'm a weird baby sitter.  I know.

Wedding rings on or off? On.  I feel like it will just get more loose with the cold weather coming.  No part of my body has really become swollen (knock on wood).

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy!  Stressed with all the preparation for the weekend but overall I was very happy!

Looking forward to: Putting the Baby's room together!  Baby K's room is packed full of boxes but Dan and I are going to spend a night this week going through everything and put his room together.  Next week I'll put pictures of its progress on here.  Also, I'm looking forward to heading to Iowa this next weekend for my second cousin's wedding and I'll get to visit my grandma and grandpa and all my extended family.  I love weddings!  We'll even get to stop by and visit some of Dan's friends from back home and see their adorable baby boy!  I love me some Iowa!

Anything Else: I mentioned it earlier but the crazy countdown has started!  We've reached the 50 day mark which means Baby K will be here sooner than we know it!  Can't wait to meet our adorable little man!
